The Community Business idea has been incorporated with the Akshya project after an independent research on the subject was conducted by Mr. Lukose Jacob, the founder and Director of HiLDA in UK. The concept has been adapted to the Indian situation and begin to promote Community Business idea through the women SHGs for generating more employment opportunities thus to increase the monthly income of the members to reduce the poverty.
The groups begin to avail micro-credits from the local banks. They availed Rs.4000/ as credit for every Rs.1000 of their savings, with out any guarantee. The amount is utilized for the business activities of the groups or its individuals. The Community business programmes are spread out in various sectors like, service, production, finance and Trades.
Consumable products are promoted for local market and for local consumption and 4 methods and strategies were developed for the marketing. Farming, soap & detergent powder making, handicrafts, tailoring, bus service, animal husbandry, production of household items, construction materials, iron gates & widows etc are the different businesses.
