Lack of proper housing is one of the pressing problems of the poor people in this high land. There are more than 3000 homeless Akshya SHG members and HiLDA has developed a tie up with the local bank in building low cost houses to the Akshaya members. Separate SHGs will be formed and once they save 10% of the cost the bank advances the rest. So far 60 houses have been built in the beneficiaries land. HiLDA also train the local people as skilled masons so that they get employment opportunities.

Electricity has not reached in several villages and HiLDA is now promoting solar home lights and gobar gas plants as an alternative to the conventional energy sources.
