Health and Drinking water is one of the most crucial problems of Wayand. Now days supply driven concept/model has been replaced by demand driven approach and rural mass is showing their genuine interest to co-operate with the sustainable development approaches and the new paradigm of scientific social progress.
The programme is visualizing development through drinking water through Community centered, women managed, eco friendly and sustainable rural drinking water supply and sanitation Programme. The salient features are:
- Demand driven and community managed rural drinking water supply schemes
- Conservation and maintenance of existing rainwater harvesting structures
- Promoting old practices of water conservation methods and replicate good models to other areas.
- Promoting cost effective, low cost and hygienic two pit sanitary latrines to the rural areas.
- Conversion of all deep pit and drinking water source polluting latrine pits into shallow two pits
- Construction of soak pit and compost pit in every rural household.
- Promoting vermi compost and kitchen garden
- Constructions of pay & use latrines in the townships of rural areas.
- Creating plastic free, Garbage free wastewater free clean town/cities in the rural areas.
- Developing eco-friendly, low cost and replicable models of suitable rainwater harvesting structures/ practices, based on area specific.
